The grounds are largely informal with large clumps of rhododendron, hydrangeas, specimen trees and drifts of wild flowers in spring.


Buckland Abbey near Yelverton, Plymouth

The garden is mainly a twentieth century creation, but being a tranquil spot it is not hard to imagine that Cistercian monks once walked here hundreds of years ago

A wonderful garden developed by the D'oyly Cartes lies in a stream fed valley above the South Devon Coast. The mild climate, shelter belts and high humidity allows plants to be grown that are normally only seen in conservatories.
